Our FEES

A standard consultation at The Kind Psychologist is $200.

This is below the standard consult fee set for Psychologists by the Australia Psychological Society (see here). A Mental Health Care Plan or Private Health Insurance can be used to offset this cost (see below).

OUR SERVICES

  • If eligible, you can access a Mental Health Care Plan through your GP. This currently allows you to access a Medicare rebate of $93.35 for ten sessions each calendar year, making the gap $106.65. Medicare requires that the full fee is paid upfront, and we then process your rebate online. This can take 1-2 days to return into your bank account.

When accessing your Mental Health Care Plan, it is important to check that the referral letter includes the following:

    • Date of the referral

    • Your name, DOB, and address

    • A diagnosis

    • Your GP’s name and Medicare provider number

    • A request for psychological services with the number of sessions specified

Without these details, the referral is not valid. Please contact your GP prior to your appointment if any of these aspects are missing. We also advise that you bring your own copy with you to the appointment as this will help ensure we can process the rebate for you.

  • If you have Private Health Insurance with extras that cover you for counselling or psychological services, you may be eligible for a rebate. It is recommended that you check with your provider prior to your consultation to determine your eligibility as this will differ for each individual. At each session, a full payment is made and an invoice is then provided that can be submitted to your private health provider to claim your rebate. Please note that you cannot claim for both Medicare and Private Health Insurance on the same consultation.

  • Some people prefer to access a psychologist by self-referring and self-funding. You can do this by simply contacting The Kind Psychologist and asking for an appointment.

  • We offer therapy in the form of a telehealth services to make life easier and bring psychology to you. The Kind Psychologist use a telehealth program through Power Diary, which is compliant with the Australian standards for online encryption and security and is recommended by the Australian Psychological Society. To access telehealth consultations, you will need:

    • A quiet, comfortable, private space where you won't be interrupted

    • An appropriate device (i.e. smartphone, laptop, iPad or computer that has a camera, microphone and speakers)

    • A fast, reliable and secure internet connection

Prior to your appointment, we will provide you with a link to access the telehealth waiting room. This link also allows you to check your system is working before your appointment begins (recommended).

Please note that we do not offer Medico-Legal Assessments and Reports or engage in Work Cover claims, and we are not registered for NDIA participants or plan-managed NDIS participants.
